CA Wave White Claims U16AA Championship in Turkey SHootout
CA Wave White secured a 4-1 victory over the Jr Sun Devils, earning the championship title.
The action started in the third period, with both teams pushing hard to break the scoreless tie. CA Wave White struck first at 3:23 when Jakeob Soule scored on the power play, assisted by Ronnie Felikian. Less than two minutes later, at 4:52, Jakeob Martinez doubled the lead with another power-play goal, this time assisted by Keiran Vandyck.
The Jr Sun Devils didn't back down and managed to get on the scoreboard at 12:50 with Adam (AJ) Brandt’s power-play goal, assisted by Cole Moyer. But CA Wave White responded quickly. At 13:04, Martinez scored again, this time at even strength, to make it 3-1. The game was sealed at 14:29 when Luc Varela added an empty-net goal to give CA Wave White the 4-1 lead and secure the win.
Despite some tough penalties on both sides, CA Wave White's goalie, Jeremy Gaona, was perfect in net, stopping all 16 shots he faced. Brayden Gearig of the Jr Sun Devils made 24 saves but was unable to stop the high-powered CA Wave White offense.
The Jr Sun Devils, who struggled with penalties throughout the game, had 14 penalty minutes, while CA Wave White had 10. The game ended with CA Wave White being crowned champions, showing excellent teamwork and strong special teams play.
It was a hard-fought battle, but in the end, CA Wave White’s offense and defense proved too much for the Jr Sun Devils to handle.
