Jr Sun Devils Win in Overtime Over Park City Miners in Turkey Shootout
In an exciting U16AA round robin game at the Tempe MACU, the Jr Sun Devils faced off against the Park City Miners. The game ended in a thrilling 2-1 victory for the Jr Sun Devils, who won in overtime.
The game started with a lot of back-and-forth action. The first two periods were scoreless, as both teams played solid defense. Then, in the third period, the Jr Sun Devils took the lead. Lucas Ishu scored the first goal of the game at 6:47, with help from his teammates, Chase Ohern and James (JP) Roll.
But Park City wasn’t ready to give up. Just a few minutes later, at 13:48, Ryker Jones tied the game for the Miners with a goal assisted by Jayden Jacobs.
With the score tied at 1-1, the game went into overtime. It only took a little more than two minutes for the Jr Sun Devils to win. Adam (AJ) Brandt scored the game-winning goal at 2:13, with assists from Indiana Goebig and Jaikarran Ganesh.
The Jr Sun Devils finished with 37 shots on goal, while Park City had 20. Both teams had a few penalties, but neither could score on the power play. Jr Sun Devils goalie Kegan Carlise made 19 saves to secure the win, while Park City’s Alex Harhi stopped 35 shots but took the loss.
Overall, it was an exciting and close game, with the Jr Sun Devils coming out on top in overtime.
