Verrado Triumphs Over San Luis in 9-6 Win
The Verrado Vipers Freshman Baseball team delivered a strong performance on March 27, 2025, defeating San Luis 9-6 in an exciting home game. The Vipers found themselves behind early but rallied back with consistent offensive and defensive efforts to secure the victory.
San Luis jumped out to an early lead, scoring two runs in the first inning and adding four more in the third. However, the Vipers didn’t back down. They answered with one run in the first inning, two in the second, and two more in the third. While San Luis maintained their lead through the middle innings, Verrado’s offense came alive in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings, scoring two runs in each frame to take control of the game.
Several Vipers players stood out during the game. Blake Velez (So) was a key contributor at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 and helping to move the team’s offense forward. On the mound, Chase Valdez (Fr) pitched five solid innings, allowing six runs while striking out four batters. Despite giving up some early runs, Valdez’s ability to settle in and control the game was critical to the Vipers' victory.
Cole Cassidy (Fr) also played a crucial role in the win, coming in as a relief pitcher and delivering two shutout innings. Cassidy struck out three batters and kept San Luis off the scoreboard during his time on the mound. At the plate, Kingston Carino (Fr) contributed with key hits, driving in runs and further extending the Vipers' lead.
Defensively, the Vipers made some key plays that helped keep San Luis from mounting any further rallies. Waylon Daniels (Fr) and Alfredo Ibarra (Fr) were solid in the field, turning crucial outs and preventing any extra-base hits. As the game progressed, Verrado’s defense remained sharp, with Tony Colon (Fr) making two key stops and Chase Valdez (Fr) showing excellent control on the mound.
