The AZ Outlaws and 12U AZ CLASH Baseball - Henning also shined, finishing strong with 4-1 and 3-1 records, respectively. It was an exciting weekend of competitive games and standout performances. I had the pleasure of attending the games between Sticks Southwest and Riot2030, Sticks Southwest and Arizona Dust Devils, and AZ CLASH vs. Scottsdale Bombers. Sticks Southwest
Sticks Southwest had a notable performance at the USSSA Spring Classic II, held on April 27-28, 2024. They finished with a 2-1 record, placing 6th overall. On April 27, they kicked off their tournament with a commanding 8-0 win against Riot2030, followed by a close 4-3 victory over the Arizona Dust Devils. However, they faced a tough challenge on April 28, falling 1-3 to the AZ Outlaws. Despite the loss, Sticks Southwest’s strong showing in their initial games underscored their competitive spirit.
Riot2030
Riot2030’s tournament journey was a rollercoaster. With a 2-2 record, they ended up in 9th place. On April 27, they were defeated 0-8 by Sticks Southwest and then faced another setback with a 10-24 loss to the Devilbacks 12U Black. However, Riot2030 bounced back on April 28, winning 13-0 against ATB 12U, though they fell 4-28 to Team Dinger 12U. Their dynamic performance reflected their ability to compete against tough opponents.
Arizona Dust Devils
The Arizona Dust Devils concluded the tournament with a 2-2 record, finishing 13th. They started strong on April 27 with a narrow 4-9 loss to Sticks Southwest, followed by a 13-24 defeat against the Devilbacks 12U Black. On April 28, their struggles continued with a 2-11 loss to the Scottsdale Bombers 12U and a 4-21 defeat against AMDG Colts 12U Black. Despite their challenging games, the Dust Devils showcased their resilience throughout the tournament.
AZ CLASH
AZ CLASH made a strong impression, finishing 3rd with a 3-1 record. Their performance on April 27 included a thrilling 11-10 win over the Scottsdale Bombers and an 8-0 victory against ATB Bombers. On April 28, they secured a close 4-3 win against Desert Kings Gold but fell 10-13 to the AZ Outlaws. AZ CLASH’s consistent performance and competitive edge were evident throughout their games.
Scottsdale Bombers
The Scottsdale Bombers ended the tournament with a 1-3 record, placing 14th. On April 27, they suffered a close 10-11 defeat against AZ CLASH and a 8-10 loss to AZ643. Their sole win came on April 28 with a 14-6 victory over Legends 2030, though they ended their tournament with a 2-5 loss to the Arizona Dust Devils. The Bombers displayed determination and skill, despite facing tough competition.
