Verrado Struggles to Find Offense in Tough Loss to Valley Christian
A rough night at the plate and some early defensive struggles put Verrado in a hole they couldn’t climb out of, falling 10-0 to Valley Christian on Monday night.
From the jump, Valley Christian came out aggressive, putting up five runs in the first inning to set the tone. Carson Grier led the charge for the Trojans, going 2-for-2 with three RBIs and a home run, while Derek Arold chipped in with a pair of hits and two RBIs.
Meanwhile, Verrado couldn’t get much going offensively. The bats were quiet, managing just three hits on the night. Braxton Bjur, Braden Marchese, and Aaron Gutierrez each had a single, but that was the extent of the offense.
On the mound, Nolan Raissle started for the Vipers and kept things manageable after the rocky first inning, allowing three runs (one earned) over three innings while striking out four. But Valley Christian continued to capitalize on opportunities, adding runs in the second, fourth, and fifth innings to put the game away early.
Jaxen Maxey got the win for Valley Christian, tossing three shutout innings while striking out five. Ty Pasisich came in for relief, allowing just one hit over two innings to seal the deal.
For Verrado, it was a night to forget, but they’ll look to bounce back in their next matchup. The Vipers will need to regroup quickly and find a way to reignite their offense as they continue through the season.
