Agua Fria Snaps Losing Streak with Dominant Win
Agua Fria came out strong and dominated early, finally getting back in the win column after losing their last two games with a solid 34-14 victory over North Canyon. The Owls set the tone right away, scoring a passing touchdown with about 10 minutes left in the first quarter to take an early 6-0 lead. They kept the momentum going with a rushing touchdown a few minutes later, though the two-point conversion didn’t work out, making the score 12-0. But Agua Fria wasn’t done yet—about three minutes before the quarter ended, they returned a punt for another touchdown. Even though their second two-point conversion failed, they still closed out the first quarter up 18-0.
In the second quarter, Agua Fria’s running game stayed on point, adding another rushing touchdown with about nine minutes left. This time, the extra point was good, stretching their lead to 25-0. A field goal with three minutes left before halftime pushed the score to 28-0, and the Owls went into the break in complete control.
North Canyon finally made some noise late in the third quarter when Markel Arnold recovered a fumble and took it 17 yards to the house. Their two-point conversion attempt was no good, though, leaving them trailing 28-6 heading into the fourth quarter.
Agua Fria sealed the deal with another rushing touchdown about halfway through the fourth, pushing their lead to 34-6, though they missed the extra point. North Canyon showed some life when their QB, Giovanni Pugliese, found Colin Faris for a 10-yard touchdown pass with just three minutes left. They connected again on the two-point conversion, but it was too little too late. The final score ended at 34-14, with Agua Fria securing their first win after two tough losses. The Owls’ strong start, both offensively and on special teams, gave them all the momentum they needed to take control of the game, while North Canyon struggled to find their rhythm until the end.
